Planting a Food Forest
WE’RE PLANTING A FOOD FOREST and WE NEED YOUR HELP!
June 13th 2015, 10am–4pm. Forest Heights Community Center, 1700 Queens Blvd, Kitchener, ON
Rain Date is Sunday June 14th 10am
A Food Forest is an edible garden design that mimics a forest ecosystem (biomimicry). It is a new perspective on locally grown organic food that’s “free”. This is an edible landscape for the community to pick fruits, and plants for personal use. Food Forest Foragers can volunteer to weed, water and tend to the maintenance of the forest for all.
We are looking for volunteers (earn community hours) who would like to help dig and plant, as well as sign up with our volunteer program to help steward the development of this garden for our community.
Bring:
- A reuseable water bottle
- Boots
- Gloves
- Wilbarrow if you have one
We will be moving compost, soil, mulch, planting and creating a pathway!
The Food Forest is also interested in donations of healthy plants:
Chives, Lavender, Rhubarb , Groundcherry, Thyme, beans, Rose, Milkweed, cloves, honey suckle, yarrow, butterfly bush, nasturtiums, dill, parsnips, rhubarb and any berry bushes
We are looking forward to planting our FRUITURE with you!
