Edible Trails…Permaculture…Pollinator Fedges…Community Gardens!

Nicola Thomas (Food Forest Guild and Permaculture), Doug McKlusky Forest Heights Community Assocation, Susan Koswan Environmental Activist, Jill Bechard, Fern Knechel Allen, Kim Fellows Seeds of Diversity, Jennifer Marshman Tri-Cities Gleaners Guild, Forest Heights Community Center and Natascha Voll from the City of Kitchener invite you to walk and talk with us!

10am – meet at the 1700 Queens Blvd, Kitchener, ON, Forest Heights Community Centre, walk and talk with us about our plan to plant fruit and nut trees and perennial fruit-bearing plants that are human and pollinator friendly.

Learn and share stories about the history of Forest Heights as we follow the creek-side trail past Silver Green and Brook Green and wind our way to the pond in West Heights Park, through the woods and Trailview Park back to Forest Heights Community Centre.

11:30 – We will roll up our sleeves and plant a pollinator fedge at the Centre based on permaculture practices.

Feel free to bring a plant for the fedge. (e.g. raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, native plant, pollinator friendly plant etc. PLEASE no plants that have a label saying they have been protected from problematic pests as these are toxic to our pollinators!).
